Historical perspective and evolution of charged particle
Current status of proton beam therapy centers in the U.S. As of September 2012, there are 10 clinical centers in operation, and about 10 being built or planned. The number in each state indicates the new cancer cases per year (2010 statistics) Radiation therapy including charged particle therapy has been and will continue to be an effective modality for cancer therapy.
MDM2 and MDMX: alone and together in regulation of p53
Both MDM2 and MDMX are essential to controlling p53 and they must perform their own method of inhibiting p53 with possible spatial and temporal differences. MDM2 E3 ligase activity depends on MDMX, the reverse is true as well - MDMX depends on MDM2.

SIRT2 is a legitimate tumor suppressor gene and plays an essential role in maintaining the integrity of mitosis through positively regulating APC/C activity, a dysfunction of which leads to genetic instability and tumorigenesis.
Normal tissue protection for improving radiotherapy: where are the Gaps?
Any tumor could be controlled by radiation therapy if sufficient dose were delivered to all tumor cells. Although technological advances in physical treatment delivery have been developed to allow more radiation dose conformity, normal tissues are invariably included in any radiation field within the tumor volume and also as part of the exit and entrance doses relevant for particle therapy.
A chain reaction approach to modelling gene pathways
In the chain reaction model, the implicit scheme is employed to efficiently solve the differential equations. Data analysis results show the proposed model is capable of predicting gene expression changes and demonstrating the effect of nutrient-containing diets on gene expression changes in the pathway.
Toward robust proton therapy planning and delivery
Accurate and safe delivery of proton therapy must take into consideration the various uncertainties associated with the calculation and delivery of proton doses. In particular, these include the uncertainties of CT number to relative stopping power ratio conversion, as well as the effect of setup error and organ motion on delivered beam ranges.
New developments in treatment planning and verification of particle beam therapy
Important aspects that need to be addressed include the reduction of proton range uncertainty, the development of active beam scanning technology and its monitoring, and advanced immobilization techniques that take the special requirements of charged particle beams into account.
